Superb, yet disppointing are the words that describe my reaction to my visit.
As a deposit of Texas history, my reveiw echos most as it is indeed excellent in every aspect..
As a keeper of the history of the building and The Home for Orphans for many, many years, it fails miserably.. Not a word about what each room was used for, not a word about where the kitchen was, Nothing on how the children lived, worked or were eductaed. In short, aside from the plaque at the main entrance and something very brief in the basement, the museum has scrubed this aspect of the building clean.
By all means visit, it is well worth it from the Texas history aspect, just do not expect much on The Orphans.
