Kimo was theeee absolute BEST! I'm middle aged local, born and raised in Hawaii. We impromptu decided to take the kids on the trolley as a spring break excursion. before we hit stop 4 i was texting others & recommending they do this as well.
I learned and relearned so much. The tidbits, the historical trivia that he shares is great! I was happy for the tourists- as they get on the 1st stop, he treats them with a song on his ukulele. He takes the time to explain to others not eligible for our ride what they're waiting for, what to look out for-whether it be another trolley line or the city bus. He was never rude, or even dismissive- even his tour was not slanted in any way-just facts, and some fun facts as well.
I was grateful he was our driver. We weren't expecting a fully guided tour, just the experience of trolley ride. he is truly passionate about his role in sharing his culture with visitors. He is intentional on having anyone he comes in contact with get a true feel of Aloha. 5 stars all the way! The only thing I regretted was my habit of not carrying cash. luckily the 11yr old came in clutch with her stash. So folks- definitely catch Kimo's Red Line & Don't forget his tip money lol. I promise you will not regret it. Authentic feel of Aloha and a greater understanding of Hawai'i and the places along his path will be what you are left with. Mahalo nui Kimo! We got way more out of the experience than what we expected.
