This tour is a great way to experience some amazing sights of Alaska, wildlife, glaciers, and a rainforest within a half day. Your guide will pick you up from downtown Anchorage and drive along Turnagain Arm, which boasts abundant scenic views and Alaskan wildlife within easy access to the city of Anchorage. Along the way, you will learn many interesting facts about this area’s history, animals, and ecosystem from your experienced guide.
You will visit the Wildlife Conservation Center, located at the end of Turnagain Arm and surrounded by mountain peaks. You will have the chance to explore on your own and visit the many animals in the center, including brown bears, wolfs, caribou, moose, and the endangered Woodland Bison.
After the Wildlife Center, you will have the opportunity to see the majestic Portage Valley, a few miles drive from the Wildlife Center. Here you will enjoy several amazing viewpoints of glaciers, lakes, rivers, and a unique rainforest.

We chose this tour because when reviewed it, we were interested in the activities that were indicated and especially to see the rain forest and nature. However, we spent most of our time in the car, and the times we did stop, it was only for a few minutes. The tour was more of a road tour than a visit to nature. In addition, the guide was very little informed about the geography, flora and fauna. By far the worst and most disappointing tour of our 2 weeks in Alaska.

My husband and I took this tour with Matt earlier this week. There was just one other person, so it was a small group. Matt was a wonderful tour guide and we really enjoyed hearing about his stories and connections to Alaska. He provided his personal insight and was very knowledgeable about the history of Alaska, its animals and the landmarks. When we were at the wildlife conservation center, I saw visitors who were not on our tour come closer to us in order to listen to Matt talk about the animals. One of them even asked if he could join our group. We highly recommend this tour!
