As a mom of 3 daughters ( my oldest with special needs- Down syndrome ) I always look for the best and most convenient activities for our family of 5. I booked our 2 hour kayak adventure the day before heading to Crystal River. Everything went super smooth. We rented 2 tandem kayaks and 1 single. The tandem kayak seats were slightly different in each. We got lucky and one of them had high seat backs which was a huge blessing for my husband since he is very tall and has a low back surgery in the past. Anything seat that offers extra support is always a bonus. SO, know this if someone in your group has back issues. We did not think of this and just got lucky with a kayak that had high backs. We brought our own masks & noddles ( although they had a barrel of noodles at the dock ( not sure ion they charge to bring them along since we had our own ). We did not have a guide but the helpful employees who helped us launch gave us a river map to bring along with us. We paddled to # Sisters spring and teethed to a rope and swam into the springs ( no kayaks allowed -March 31, 2022). There were no manatee (which we anticipated ) but it was very pretty. We did see a few fish. We paddled along the river, enjoying the scenery 7 beautiful homes along the water. This was a great company to rent from-super friendly and helpful. They had restrooms & changing rooms in the office. Then, you drive just down the road to the dock ( $5 parking ). There are also restrooms at the park where you launch. You won't be disappointed. They also offer a military discount-super appreciative. Also- if you are looking for Covid protocol, keep in mind you are going on the water!!! If you are that afraid, just don't leave your home because germs are everywhere!
