Use your general admission ticket for entry to the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum. Here, Ice Age fossils are being excavated right in the middle of L.A. Enjoy this truly unique attraction by experiencing all that it has to offer. Marvel at its outdoor Lake Pit, oozing with bubbling tar; travel back in time among the prehistoric plants of its Pleistocene Garden; and explore its active dig sites, where it seems excavators uncover something new daily. The museum itself features its own wealth of offerings. Scope out the fossils of prehistoric mammoths, saber-toothed cats, wolves, and ground sloths, or take an opportunity to watch paleontologists working in the Fossil Lab on their most recent finds. Unique and though promoting experience of the mammoth and other large animals preserved by the tar. The fish bowl where the scientists worked in preparing and curating the finds was also interesting. The park was part of a large complex and at the other end was done nice refreshment places and other museums. Traveled there from downtown by taxi and returned on the number 20 bus.

Great exhibition, the museum is fascinating with all the recovered prehistoric animals bones. The best part is free, you can just walk into the outside portion from the street & see the tar pools & many places where tar is just bubbling out of the ground with green pylon cones near them. Be careful if you touch the tar…. It’s tar & you’ll be an instant mess.

It was awesome as usual. Took my kids here for the first time. Definitely a nice day trip for the whole family.
