My husband and I were in the Twin Cities for our anniversary and decided to try our first brew tour. My husband is a big beer snob and typically shies away from these because they are usually a quick stop at a bar that serves microbrews. Not so with Bitter Minnesota! We stopped at three actual breweries (tap rooms) where you could drink unlimited amounts of beer for the price of your tour. My husband was very pleased with the three breweries we stopped at. The tours are offered every night of the week and the breweries change each night. Our guide, Nick, was very knowledgeable about the beers at each location and was a lot of fun! I am not a beer drinker, but he had suggestions at each place for me to try to see if I may like particular styles. Turns out, I'm just not a beer drinker...but that's ok!
The reason the tour did not get five stars is that their online tour booking is not the easiest to use...you can only book one ticket at a time and you have no way of knowing if you are booking the last ticket or not....nor does it make it clear that there is a "no beer" option for the tour at a lower price. The other problem was the first brewery we went to was not open to the public when we went (they were having a ticketed event). I'm not sure that was the fault of the tour, but it was kind of annoying.
All in all it was a great time and I would go again and recommend it to anyone traveling to the Twin Cities!
