The Lofton Creek Kayak Tour is perfect for paddlers of any level, including children and beginners. It’s an intimate nature experience in which participants can expect to get up close and personal with turtles, alligators, snakes, otters, and occasionally, manatees. The terrestrial nature of the forest attracts pileated woodpeckers, red shoulder hawks, and the curious anhinga, sometimes referred to as the “water turkey.” The protected makeup of Lofton Creek means paddling here is “weather resistant” to tumultuous coastal conditions. A south-bound paddle on Lofton Creek provides picturesque marsh views, whereas a north-bound paddle is a more remote, forested experience. What a great day kayaking. Our tour guide Will provided so much insightful information about the area. He also took the time to give newbies like us the basic instruction we needed. Really wonderful experience!

Seeing Big Mama the alligator from a safe distance and several of her babies up close a short distance downstream. In addition, we were treated to seeing early blooms of azaleas and flagstaff (?) iris along the banks. Maddie (we hope this is how she spells her name) was fun, helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. She created a great environment for us (two very inexperienced kayakers) to have a fantastic time!

Relaxing and informative. Guide was well versed in the area plants and animals. It was an interesting peak into some backwoods terrain. Length of the trip was good and the tour was orderly without being too structured.
