We went out on a blustery day, with winds in the 15-knots and moderate wave action. Into the wind, we were heeled over around 20 to 30-degrees and making around 25-mph. Everyone that wanted to could take the helm for a generous amount of time. Several of the guest-crew served as "grinders" as we raised and adjusted sales.
The captain and crew were knowledgeable, friendly and informative. I felt very confident in their ability to handle the yacht. This is a "true" racing yacht, made entirely of carbon fiber, except for the 40,000-lb lead ballast.
Wear warm close, even in summer. If you don't have enough warm clothes, they have loaner jackets.
We raced straight to the Golden Gate Bridge, paused for a few minutes on the ocean side and then cruised back casually. On the way back, we were treated to a rainbow on our bow and a beautiful sunset.
