A colleague and I decided to try this out and what a great time it was! USA76 is all she's claimed to be - a thoroughbred racing machine with a solid crew who know their craft and their clients well. We were briefed on safety and some aspects of sailing before departing the pier, then off across SF Bay on a beautiful morning with some gathering wind. Guests are encouraged to participate, so it's even more fun if you're experienced and like getting a hand in. We both took the helm for a turn and set to the grinders with a will when the skipper directed us. I've been sailing since my teens on various vessels, but this was the biggest I've been on and it was a blast! My friend has boating experience, but never under sail - he loved it! We tacked around Alcatraz, then beat out under the Golden Gate into a bit of ocean swell. After a time we ran downwind back into the bay and eventually alongside after a fine and lively sail. The crew were good fun as well, friendly and full of stories. Really enjoyed the experience and would recommend to anyone who loves water adventures.
