We took our kids (ages 11-22) on the Outer Islands Whale Watching Excursion out of Anacortes, Wa and we loved it. We had the 3:30 trip time, the boat had plenty of comfy seating for everyone inside and lots of viewing space outside. The weather was drizzly and overcast but the rain stopped as our boat headed out. The overcast sky made it easier to spot wildlife. Our Naturalists Brooke and Ellen were awesome, especially enjoyed all the stories and information Brooke shared with us. Matt the Captain was friendly and shared info and answered questions while we stood near the wheelhouse watching the whales. We saw bald eagles, tons of other birds, a California sea lion, "Scratchy" the humpback whale, orcas and even an elusive minke whale on the way back. We were lucky enough to get to see a pod of 6 orcas. What an incredible experience. Would highly recommend them.

My friends and I had a great time out with Captain Drew, Brooke and Beth on the Orcas Express. The whole team from start to finish was very friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. You can tell that they love what they do and it doesn’t get old. They use great communication among themselves on the boat and with other boats in the area to make sure you get to see some whales and have a good time. I was worried that I’d maybe get bored waiting to see whales but we weren’t on the boat long at all before our first sighting and that’s so exciting that from then on, you’re busy scanning the water for more. While I loved seeing the whales, in between sightings they also took us around to see a tiny island of sea lions which might have been my favorite part (there was a baby one!). Loved seeing seals, bald eagles and the gorgeous PNW landscape. We saw grey and humpback whales during my excursion. We were close enough to smell the humpback’s breath. Yep, whale breath, that’s a thing! Fingers crossed for the black fish next time. Thanks OIE!!

Jim, Alex and Aubrey were awesome offering details of the whales we got to see and checking in every so often to make sure we were all doing well. The ride was so enjoyable and I’m so happy we got to see some whales. Aubrey was so nice, since our group was running late and was understanding and even gave our friend who we were celebrating a speaker shot out for his birthday. He was so happy. Thank you for making our visit memorable.
