We were very pleased with the Aquarium and Insectarium museum. All ages (from 5 to 74) got lost in the Insectarium watching the insects at work and tasting cricket cookies. The Aquarium was well marked in our estimation and enjoyed petting sting rays, watching penguins be fed and especially walking through the Amazon bird and bayou exhibits. The cost is or for all of the tours we have done here and really felt like we got our money’s worth. Simple to access from Canal streetcar.

We went here to see the mermaids. The aquarium itself was very cool. We have been to a lot of aquariums, and this one stood out due to the decoration of the themed areas. The kids really enjoyed this trip. We also did the insectarium which was a very unique experience. They had a lot of different bugs on display in addition to the butterfly room. They also give out free samples of food items with bugs baked into them, so you can try it and learn more about how other countries use bugs in their normal diets. Overall a neat way to spend the morning.
