We recently took the Big Bus Downtown & Uptown Hop-on Hop-off Tour, and unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. Despite the promising concept, the reality was that participants just sat on the bus and were driven around aimlessly with little to no context or explanation. The company handed out earbuds, but the information provided through them was subpar at best. As we passed by countless gorgeous buildings and landmarks, we were given little to no information about what they were or their significance. Instead, the audio was mostly filled with generic music that added nothing to the experience. It was incredibly frustrating to be surrounded by so much history and beauty, only to be left in the dark about it. It was no surprise that most people weren't even using the earbuds—there was hardly any information worth listening to. The fact that this lackluster experience came with an $80 price tag per ticket only added to our disappointment. What a waste of money. If you're looking for an informative and engaging tour of the city, this is not it. Save your money and look for a better option.

While our daytime hop on, hop off tours only include pre-recorded commentary, we also offer live-guided tours on our Brooklyn and Night tour routes. We hope we have the chance to welcome you on board these so we can offer a better experience.

We had this bus service as a part of The Sightseeing Pass we purchased. We wanted to 'get a feel of the city' before we started to explore on our own. The line to get on the bus required a 20-30 minute wait on a Tuesday morning. The lower part of the bus has no AC and unable to open windows. The upper level requires a brimmed hat/sunglasses due to heat and sun glare. The earphone audio had more music than interesting information (seemed geared to young people). There was very little historical information given. As you rode by various sites, you had to get off the bus to actually see them including Wall Street, 9/11 Memorial/Museum, Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty, etc). There was no particular guidance as to stops, which was confusing to us. (we did both the uptown and downtown loops). For the cost, I don't feel it is worth the price.

This is not a tour - it's a glorified taxi service. Drop-off and pick-up points were not clearly marked. Drivers were not consistent as to where they dropped you off or picked you up. Stops were not clearly announced. We were left stranded - twice - because the tour bus just stopped (end of the line, despite the fact the tours are meant to operate on a loop), with no one bothering to inform us what was going on until we physically got up from our seats to ask. And as for the audio... Absolutely useless to the point of irritating. No real relevant information. The prerecorded dialogue between the man and woman was puerile and offered little-to-no real historical information about the city.
