The bioluminescence was really outstanding and so,so interesting to see and interact with. The tour guides were extremely knowledgeable and their personalities showed how much they love their work. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed something truly unique!

Jarrod M. Was our enthusiastic and informed tour guide. He was great in pointing out wildlife, showing us how to sling the water with the paddle to see the dinoflagellates colorful glow in the water and pointing out what we were seeing on the shoreline. I will say that the clear "kayaks" are difficult to sit in for long and are not needed for this activity since you need your paddle or your hand to stir the water to see them glow. Bottom line is Jarrod made it a great time.

Paula, We are so glad to hear you had a great time on your tour. Jared is definitely a wonderful guide who enjoys sharing the wonder of the bioluminescence with others! You do need to move the water with your paddle or your hand to see the bioluminescence. While the clear kayaks aren't a necessity to see the bioluminescence, they are a cool option to get a better view of the glowing waters. Typically, while paddling people are able to see the glow through the clear sides of the kayak and through the bottom of the kayak which you don't get in regular kayaks. We would love to have you on another adventure with us in the future and we will pass on your kind words to Jared!

We (4 women in 50’s) booked a RAFTING tour because we did not want to paddle too hard. But we ended up being the only ones in our paddle boat with our guide Ashley. We paddled a bit against the current and gave up and went the opposite way towards a channel. Few glowy things in the water was neat, but not fantastic. The half moon got covered by clouds about 30mins into the trip, but there weren’t a whole lot of bioluminescent creatures to see where we ended up in the lagoon. Another paddle boat went out before us and they must have gone to a better spot because we never saw them in the water. We were back at the dock before an hour was up, and driving away from our 8pm tour by 9pm. I wish we had a more knowledgeable, experienced and persistent guide, who would have made a better effort to rally us on (instead of just give up with us) to see more glowy creatures. I realize BK adventure cannot control nature, but I personally felt it was a waste of money.

We're sorry to hear you didn't have the experience you hoped for. We do always try to communicate to the guests who book our rafting tour that they will be helping the guide to paddle, and the effort required depends on how large the group is that booked for it. We also make sure that our website reflects that going on a new moon is the best time to see the bioluminescence and nights closer to the full moon can affect your viewing of the bio. Our tours do usually take slightly different paths so that we aren't running into each other out there, but our guides always try to find the places in the lagoon with the best bioluminescence and make sure everyone can experience it equally. We are definitely going to take your feedback into consideration to ensure that every guest has a good experience on our rafting tour.
