Even in the rain, this one-day 4X4 trip on the White Rim Trail was tremendous. You'll see Musselman Arch, the climactic spot in Thelma and Louise where Susan Sarandon and Gina Davis drove off the "Grand Canyon" cliff, go down to the Colorado River at Lathrop canyon over some thrilling terrain. And finally, you'll climb the engineering marvel, the Shafer Trail, gaining 1,500 feet along colorful sandstone walls. The rain created streams washing down the side of the road that added to the excitement. At one rock art spot, we hiked into an alcove behind a rain-created waterfall that was both musical and magical.
Our guide, David, shared his passion for many interests -- ancient rock art, geology, music composition, and cowboy anecdotes about the area. His perspective was like the cherry on top of the hot fudge (or redrock) sundae.
