We actually went on two of Navtec's off-road tours -- full day White Rim tour followed the next day by half day in Arches NP. I can't say enough about the incredible scenery -- the formations we saw and the canyons and cliffs we traversed -- that you just have to see in person to really appreciate. But I can tell you about Navtec. My wife and I followed our habit of going out west in late January, when things are less crowded and easier to get to. We spent both days with Navtec guide John MacPherson, a serious outdoorsman who's done it all, and whose knowledge of geology, history (including pre-historic, Native American, and recent), culture, and outdoor sports and survival seemed limitless. Plus he is totally likeable -- and he even served us lunch on the bank of the Colorado. We also met John Williams, the owner, whose family's history is intertwined with those of the nearby National Parks and Moab itself. At the end of our stay, my wife and I actually congratulated each other for having found such a fun and memorable adventure. If you want to see some of the most beautiful and rugged landscapes in the country, four-wheel up and down rocks you never would have thought you could make, and learn a lot from some fun folks -- I recommend Navtec, and if you can -- go with John.
