Embark on a small-group, 3-hour land based tour of Chichagof Island. The community of Hoonah, with a year round population of approximately 850, is located in the northern part of Chichagof Island. The vast majority of the island is pure, uninhabited, Alaskan wilderness teeming with wildlife! Chichagof Island has the highest population of bears per square mile of any place on Earth.

Our bear search excursion was really, really good! Our guide was super knowledgeable, as well as entertaining. The scenery is STUNNING! And it was a bonus that we saw a mama and 3 cubs at the very end of our experience. I felt safe the whole time but I also knew that I was definitely in grizzly bear country!!

Met at meeting point and as a small group trip good to see only 6 of us in mini bus. Guide knowledgeable and tried to keep interest. Travelled for miles to stop at 2 small creeks and 2 rivers the first already had numerous people on Bridge we stayed a while but no activity. Second bridge only people there but again nothing to see. I appreciate sightings are not guaranteed but comments such as vegetation is lush and difficult to see through and it's a warm afternoon which bears tend to rest didn't exactly help. Perhaps we should have been given an option before we left ? A very expensive trip and we all thought not good value for money. Overall very dissapointing
