My husband and I (58 year-olds) took the Cycle to Sea trip with Matt. Matt picked us up in Pa'ia, 6 of us in a roomy comfortable van, and drove us up the mountain. On each of our seats was a basket of snacks for us to enjoy in addition to his homemade banana mango muffins. The bikes had been set up beforehand for each of us based on our height and weight. The seats were VERY comfortable and I have a large rear end (ha ha!). Matt provided us with music after each rest stop (loved his playlist!). Oh, I should have stated that the brakes were awesome, thank goodness since I was a little tentative. Even though there were less experienced riders in our group of 6 adults, we never felt pushed to go faster than we were comfortable with.
The ride down the curvy roads was exhilarating and beautiful. At one of our rest stops, Matt demonstrated how his voice would echo. I've never heard an echo like that and at first, didn't believe it was real. Well, it was! I did it myself. Soooo cool.
We stopped for lunch, included in the price of our trip, partway on our ride at a great little "hole in the wall" spot in the small town of Makawao. Before we actually sat down to eat, we got to walk around the town and explore.
Then, back on the bikes after a leisurely lunch.
It was a great day for us on the bike ride especially because of Matt and his driver, Spartok.
