This museum has grown on me over the years. Their special exhibits are excellent and not to be missed. They have something for every age. When we have visitors they almost always want to go see the hall of dinosaurs - which is one of the best I have ever seen. Like most museums in chicago, they have free days for Illinois residents.
For 2019 the free days are:
Active military personnel and Illinois teachers receive complimentary admission.

They usually have a ton of free days in both January and February
$3 admission to families who show an EBT or WIC card (maximum of six people)

For smallest crowds, attend during a bears game after the game starts!
