I haven't been on their official everglades tour, however - when I was camping off of Florida Keys with a friend, I met Garl with his friends who were also camping on the island. In the initial meet and greet, Garl told us that he was an Everglades guide. Personally, I'm not too fan of "guides" because they seem too tourist-catering for me. However, as I got to spend more time with Garl , I realize how totally awesome this dude is: I went kayaking and fishing with him around, and he graciously allowed me to come long, even though I was a novice and may have probably took away from his experience. He was also very relaxed, and clearly dedicated to the wildlife, outdoors, adventure and has a lot of knowledge (without sounding arrogant!).
If you haven't been kayaking before or only minimal experience, he would certainly put you right at ease!
