Glacier Quest Cruise - Self-Drive from Anchorage, AK

Огляд
Drive the Seward Highway along the scenic Turnagain Arm to Whittier. The Glacier Quest Cruise takes you from the quaint seaside town of Whittier to glacier-filled Blackstone Bay, a dramatic deep-water fjord where two tidewater glaciers and several alpine glaciers await. Keep an eye out for sea otters, Steller sea lions, bears, mountain goats, whales, and more!

You will see several glaciers, including Tebenkof Glacier, named for Mikhail Demitrievich Tebenkof, an outstanding surveyor whose maps were the first charts of Alaska’s waters published in 1852. Northland Glacier rests majestically, clinging to the edge of the towering mountain. Blackstone and Beloit are tidewater glaciers that have carved a steep pathway to reach Prince William Sound’s saltwater. Cruise up close to these massive glaciers to watch for telltale signs of movement signaled by the distinct “pop” of glacier ice calving.

We had a beautiful day for our glacier quest cruise! I had settled on this specific cruise because we were traveling with our 5 and 7 year old and I have horrible motion sickness that I was worried about. My kids LOVED it and could have spend the entire day on the water looking for wildlife. I never took any medication and I never got sick. The water was so calm and we saw so many animals: sea otters, harbour seals, sea lions, bald eagles, and other birds. Make sure you come prepared, even in summer because it does get cold. We had our winter water proof coats, waterproof boots, hats and gloves. We were able to spend most of the time outside on the decks while other people were sitting inside in shorts and sandals. My husband was convinced we were overpacked, but was so glad we had everything once we started to go. We had such a great time! I definitely recommend!

Half-day cruise was just the right amount. Wonderful views of the glaciers and many waterfalls. Enjoyed the cruise and excellent narration by park ranger. Advice on timing for the tunnel was spot-on. Got back in time to return through the tunnel without wait, too. Created great memories of Alaska!!

This was an incredible experience. Both from a scenery perspective, as well as a customer service perspective. The tour itself is well worth it, and high recommended. The vessel was spotless and comfortable, and the beauty of Prince William Sound won't disappoint you. Regarding the customer service experience, by far, a 5-Star experience. Check-in, greeting by the Captain, the reps who welcome you on board, and the staff while on the tour, are all at the top of their games. You don't find good people like this very often anymore. Top notch team. I would highly recommend you consider a 26 Glacier Cruise while touring Alaska, whether you are a visitor in Alaska, or a Local. Bob Johnson, Great Alaskan Holidays.
