My husband, three children (ages 11, 7 and 4) took a Sunday afternoon tour with Dan and the Eclipse crew. Our experience was exceptional from beginning to end. Dan is incredibly knowledgable (leading tours for 20+ years) and took us directly to the Orcas. We saw multiple pods in several locations, both resident and transient, and even saw a group of transient Orcas eating a seal! Seats were super comfortable and as a group of 5, we had our own table, binoculars for each adult and kids' binoculars for our 2 youngest.
The crew were very friendly to the kids and helped them to the front of the boat, asking the other adults to let them through, so they could all see. They even had books, crayons, etc. to keep my littlest busy when he got tired of watching the whales. The kids were also given life jackets to wear when outside the cabin, which was great.
The grocery store right at the ferry dock has a nice selection of sandwiches, etc. you can buy and bring onboard. We grabbed some cheese, salami and crackers as our lunch and ate it on the way out to the area where the whales were. All onboard snacks were $1 - chips, candy, drinks, etc.
Amazing experience, truly. I cannot thank Dan enough for giving us such a gift.
