The Gypsy Gold Farm

our first forty five minutes is an educational journey conducted by Dennis Thompson, the discoverer and founder of the Gypsy Vanner Horse breed. Dennis and Erin will then introduce you to a Gypsy Vanner stallion and explain the envisioned look and details unique to the Vanner breed. Your second hour is a walk among horse filled paddocks lined with ancient oaks laden with the romantic Spanish moss of the south. On your walk you will meet beautiful stallions and mares and friendly Gypsy Vanner Horse babies. Your Gypsy Gold Farm Tour ends with a picture opportunity with an incredible Gypsy Vanner Horse stallion and a visit to the Gypsy Gold gift shop.

We brought our granddaughter to Ocala for a long weekend specifically to go to the World Equestrian Center. I called the Visitors’ Bureau to check on other attractions and I am so grateful she suggested Gypsy Gold! The setting is beautiful, the horses stunning and the owners very welcoming. We learned so much about the Gypsy Vanner history and the incredible story of how they came to America. Dennis gives a fascinating talk followed by up close and personal encounters with the Vanners as well as donkeys, mules and lots of exotic birds! Very entertaining and accommodating. They have big plans for the farm and we hope to return soon to check the progress! A great experience!

Great snapshot of history and learning about the origin of the Gypsy Vanner horse was amazing! All the animals were beautiful and so friendly! Great family friendly environment.

The Thompsons make everyone feel like such a welcome guest at their gorgeous Gyspy Vanner farm! The introduction is led by Dennis Thompson....THE man (along with his wife) who discovered this breed in Great Britain within the Gypsy community and introduced the very first Gypsy Vanner horses to America. We had ample opportunity to experience the history and respectful treatment of the Romani people and the Gypsy culture as well as detailed history of the horses. Best of all...we got to meet and pet lots and lots of these gentle horses. (Bring carrots...they love them!) In addition to the horses, there are at least a dozen gorgeous parrots, mules, donkeys and even a couple Nubian goats!. The 2 hour tour is a totally wonderful immersion in the world of Gypsy Vanner horses on a working horse farm here in Ocala.
