I highly recommend Emily for anyone not from the Seattle area who is looking for a scenic hike with a family or small group. Emily took our two boys (ages 17 and 20) and me on a wonderful hike through an old growth forest to a mountain lake that I can't imagine being any more beautiful. She picked us up right at our hotel with a nice spread of coffee and pastries. She then drove us to the trailhead, which was just over an hour from our hotel in Seattle.
The hike was challenging enough for our sons, who went fast ahead of us, and comfortable for me. Emily walked with me, and we had a lovely conversation, stopping to enjoy the views and the old growth cedars along the way. The trail was blocked at one spot, but Emily gave clear directions and made it easy to traverse.
The trail took us to a lake at the base of a mountain draped with snow and cedars. The boys thrilled themselves with a dip in the lake. Emily gave us each our own backpack that included all the necessary safety essentials, which were appropriate for any hike like ours, but also which we didn't come close to needing. She also included a wrap sandwich and snacks that were yummy and healthy, along with an iced water bottle. We ate our lunch together soaking in the beautiful lake mountain scene.
The hike down was more difficult than the hike up, but again it wasn't ever too much and Emily was careful and helpful all along the way. All in all, the hike took us around 4 and 1/2 hours, but I expect we went faster than most. In total, we were together around 7 and 1/2 hours. It was a full day, and I would not plan to do much else on any day you hike with Emily. Your day will be full with the hike and the travel time to get there and back.
