Black Hills National Forest

Once the balloon is ready, you’ll gently take to the skies for an approximate 1-hour flight over the Black Hills National Forest. If you are new to ballooning, you’ll be surprised at the silence and serenity you’ll find high above the treetops. It’s truly magical. Upon landing, the ground crew will pack the balloon while you and your pilot celebrate the flight with complimentary champagne, light snacks and a story about the origin of hot air ballooning. Flights depart at sunrise and are weather dependent and always at the discretion of your experienced pilot.

My husband surprised me for our 10 year wedding anniversary with this bucket list item of a hot air balloon ride. Communication with Damien was perfect, take off was easy, balloon ride was magical, landing was soft, fun was had!

Go ahead and make a reservation to mark this off your bucket list! Steve and his crew were amazing. He has 30 years of experience flying a balloon, and it shows. When you first talk to him or meet him, you may think he is being short tempered or curt, but in reality, he is super focused on safety. He wants to ensure that everyone that gets on his balloon knows what can go wrong in order to prevent it. His crew is fast at setting up the balloon and getting you in the air, and every part of the ride is designed to be both informative and entertaining. We had a perfect ride, and more importantly, a perfect landing! We then got to have a champagne toast with our new friends. Balloon rides are pricey, but his rates are on par with any other group in the country, so you are getting a fair price. He knows the area and the air, so you can't go wrong with Steve and his crew at Black Hills Balloons. Our 70 year old Mom had help getting in and out of the balloon, and the landing was like sitting down on a pillow. Steve made sure she had an amazing time, and we couldn't wipe the smile off her face for the rest of the trip!

Great place for a balloon ride and to see the black hills from the air. Steve (our pilot) is a genuinely nice guy and has years of experience. He is safe and really knows his stuff. For anyone wanting to try a hot air balloon can highly recommend.
