What an incredible experience all around! Emma (captain) and Nixon were the best. Seriously. Safety first, hilarious, fun and just good people. We went to two amazing snorkel spots. Went right up to Lana’i and saw the blowhole with a few rainbows. We saw countless Honu (sea turtles), a white tipped reef shark, urchins and so many reef fish (parrot fish, tang, trumpet fish, you name it!).
THEN…after we completed our amazing second snorkel and should’ve headed back to the harbor…Emma tells us to hold on and guns it back out to sea. She and Nixon are clearly looking hard for something…Humpbacks. We wait 10+ minutes, sing some whale songs (in whale, obviously) and had to head back in :(. As we’re cruising back in (we were past our end time at this point), Emma yells something, does a 180 and guns it further out to see. And there they were. 3 beautiful Humpback gents, dancing in the sea as they wait for their ladies to arrive in a few weeks. First whale sighting of the season for our captain and all aboard! Except Nixon, he saw them the previous day.
What a truly TOP NOTCH incredible experience. That is how it’s done. Emma and Nixon did everything they could to make this an unforgettable experience for us, and they succeeded. My face still hurts from smiling so hard.
Let’s not forget the wonderful hospitality and freaking delicious banana bread. Emma and Nixon have it together and really know what they’re doing. I can’t recommend them and this trip enough. Plus…there were only 12 of us on the boat. We weren’t crammed at all and it made for a very comfortable and enjoyable experience. I do recommend getting the wet tops, your body will get cold eventually in the water and they REALLY help.
Emma and Nixon, if you read this, THANK YOU so very much for such an incredible experience we’ll never forget. You’re the best!!! And Emma, thank you so much for the cowrie, I’ll love it forever! Mahlo!
