On the one hour tour, you will explore the many notable sites surrounding this National Historic Landmark. It is considered consecrated ground, both for the blood shed on it and for the Minutemen who are interred here. Some highlights include: The iconic Henry H. Kitson Minuteman Statue The Revolutionary War Monument, a granite obelisk erected in 1799, where the remains of seven militiamen killed in the battle are buried. Captain John Parker monument inscribed with: “Stand your ground. Don’t fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here.” The Old Belfry, which sounded the alarm on April 19, 1775, calling the militia to the common. The Old Burying Ground where Captain John Parker, ministers John Hancock and Jonas Clarke, and an unknown British soldier are buried.

Laurie did an amazing job presenting American history! A highlight was when she pulled out her fife and played “Road to Boston!”

Gerry was amazing and the best tour director that we have had. He was not silly, very historical and informative.

I love early American history so this tour was a must. The short walk was perfect and the visit to Ye Old Burying Ground was my favorite stop. The old tombstones are simply amazing and it helps to remember the people that fought for our freedom. I would prefer that tours like this focus on the very specific history as it relates to the actual location of the tour. I don't need all of the background history (Concord, Boston, etc..) that consumed most of the tour. I understand there may be other visitors that are unaware of the history that led to the events that took place on this site but by this time, I has heard the same story three times before from visits to other locations/tours in town.
