Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

The crew is thoughtful, organized, and so much fun. It is a really well-run shop. We were lucky and had an active night of rays. At one point, there were five swimming around us, including a male, which is rare at this particular spot. As Hunter would say, they came within kicking distance of us. At first we thought he was just being funny, but they really swim inches from your face! I especially loved the reverence and respect this crew holds for the rays. We were given very specific instructions on how to hold our bodies, we were given ankle floats to keep our bodies up out of the water so we didn’t kick the rays, we were told multiple times to keep still and hold into the board and to never touch the rays. They know the rays by the markings on their chests, which made the whole experience even more special. We felt like we knew each ray. I could have stayed out there all night. Thank you, Hawaiian Oceanic!

My husband and I decided to do this on a whim after a few friends recommended we go, and it was the highlight of our two-week trip to Hawai'i and Maui. Our guide, Hunter, was THE BEST! He was very knowledgeable about mantas, and he seemed to have as much fun as we did! The manta rays were SO CLOSE the entire time. We saw at least 12 different mantas, and they got so close, they touched us! Of note, all guests were provided with ankle floaties, a wet suit top, and snorkel gear. You can also rent a Go-Pro...I recommend it! I can't say enough good things about this tour...just do it!

Amazing experience swimming with Manta rays. The guide was great and had lots of information about the mantas. You get very close to manta rays and get to watch them feed. Highly recommend!
