We carry a maximum of 12 passengers so we can offer a more intimate manta ray snorkel experience than the larger "cattle boats" in Kona.

In addition to delivering a more private experience, our small group size allows for a better manta ray show. Your swim guide will tow your party to the most active areas of the snorkel site, as you hold onto a light board and enjoy the show. Larger groups on bigger boats are often required to stay next to the boat, and can't chase the manta ray action as we do. By locating the most active areas of the snorkel site, you'll have a higher chance of seeing more manta rays.

If you book all 12 seats on any trip, you will have your own private charter.

This experience was amazing however I felt parts of it were dampened because of staff. The boat ride was great and very beautiful however the actual manta ray experience could have been a lot better for these reasons. 1. They give you no time to properly secure your snorkel mask. Once you are in the water it is extremely difficult to adjust because you are NOT allowed to put your legs down (understandably) so you need to have secure before you get in. If you don’t have it on correctly from the beginning, this will interfere with the rest of your experience. 2. The staff seemed to have little interest in the guests comfortability/overall experience. I went with my boyfriend, and the entire time he was having trouble with his mask. The guide said it was probably just on too tight. My boyfriend continued to struggle until there were about 5/10 minutes left and the guide sent him to get a new mask. With this mask he was finally able to see, but he only had a few minutes left with the manta. 3. The gear NEEDS to be upgraded. Some of the wet suits are worn out so much there are large tears/holes. This doesn’t seem like much, but it allows water to seep in making this experience very cold and uncomfortable. The masks are also pretty bad. Some are broken (like my boyfriend’s) or just overall poor quality. It also didn’t seem like there was anything to stop the water from entering your snorkel mask. A lot of the time water would come in from the top and I had to dump it out. I definitely recommend snorkeling with the mantas but I wouldn’t go through coral reef adventures.

Thank you so much for this review. I am happy you had a great manta show. Your concerns will be addressed with the staff to better improve guest experience in the future. The experience can seem fast passed to some guest but we will always take the time guest need if the guest voice their concerns. Men do struggle more with their mask due to facial hair/ stubble. It typically is not an equipment problem. Unfortunately there is very little we can do if a proper seal cannot be created. We do allow guest to bring their own mask and snorkel. So they can use equipment they are familiar with using. I am also sorry you got a wetsuit with a hole. We did update our inventory. We also would have been happy to give you another wetsuit or even double layer.

Wow! What an amazing experience. It was a trip of a lifetime for our family and we had an incredible show of Manta Rays. Jacob, Jeff and Carmel were awesome hosts and helped us feel safe every step of the way. We got to watch the sunset on the boat ride out which was amazing and once we jumped into the water, we saw a manta almost immediately and then several followed. They are gentle, peaceful and absolutely stunning creatures to see that up close. It truly was magical and the crew was super knowledgeable. We asked a ton of questions and they answered all! What a day!! We would definitely do it again.

We had the most pleasurable experience with the crew and other people on the excursion. We had a sunset boat ride to the bay and saw more manta rays so close up than we ever imagined. Highly recommend and even told a family visiting that we met at the end of the trip to make it a to-do on their vacation.
