We had scheduled this tour on what was suppose to be a sunny day. Instead, it was rainy at the start and we probably should have rescheduled based on what I have since read in other reviews. Initially, two of us from Iowa and a lady from Brazil were taking the tour. At the beginning of the tour, we lost some time doubling back to City Hall to pick up a lady from California who had originally backed out of the tour and then changed her mind (because of the weather). Mike, the bus driver, tour guide, and entrepreneur of Untapped Tours, had told the lady on the phone (while driving our tour bus) that the tour had already started. But, in appreciating Mike's efforts to accommodate us as well as this lady, we in turn, told Mike we did not have a problem with him going back to pick her up at the original starting point. Mike called her back and we backtracked to get the Californian on the bus. Consequently and unfortunately, Mike had already deleted the downtown walking tour due to the rain and was headed to other parts of the city when he turned around. Mike conducted an informative and interesting tour of the city after that. But, the less than 3-hour tour ended early due to the deleted walking tour scheduled upfront. Here, I will digress. What a perfect opportunity it would have been for Mike to now slide and incorporate the downtown walking tour to the end of the tour when there was still extra time, we were back at our original starting point anyway, and most importantly, it was no longer raining, Also, in the meantime, we had picked up an additional visitor to the city who wanted to learn more about what Milwaukee had to offer! Too, it would have been a nice way of thanking us for accommodating the Californian at the beginning of the tour (Mike picked up an additional $40.00 with our blessing). From reading the reviews, it looks like our walking tour downtown likely included a short tour or information on the Pabst Theater and getting to see the River Walk and the ever-popular Fonzie photo opportunity, among other things. There is also mention of stopping for ice cream/custard in a few reviews which we did not do on our tour either. We have heard so much about Milwaukee's custard - that would have been a fun stop! My husband and I had umbrellas with us that day and would have liked to have seen what we missed had we been given that option. It was not an inexpensive tour ($80.00 for the two of us). Mike certainly had no control over the rain at the beginning of the tour, but certainly could have better accommodated us with the walking tour (preferably) or other alternatives at the end and we would have felt better about getting our money's worth in Milwaukee!
Aside from our disappointment of not getting to do the full tour, we do wish you well in this career venture, Mike. You have a gift, you do a great job, and Milwaukee is lucky to have you as one of its ambassadors. You do seem like a flexible guy, but I am not sure why you weren't more flexible with us that day. Unfortunately, I cannot give you an excellent rating at this time, but I would recommend your tour to others traveling your way. But, the recommendation would be to avoid your tour on a rainy day.
