  • California law requires tour guests to bring a car safety seat for all children under 8 years and under 4' 9" (1.4 meters) in height. We had a great time with Tiana as our driver to Muir Woods, but we had similar experiences as described by others Less than 12 hours before the scheduled time of 7:30 AM, they called to say we were going at 9:30 instead. From reviews, this doesn't seem unusual for them. We were picked up at the new time and had an interesting drive to Muir Woods, stopping at Fort Point under Golden Gate Bridge for pictures. Tiana is an enthusiastic and informative driver; she shared lots of information throughout the drive. Yes, you must pay to enter Muir Woods, and we had 90 minutes there. We had already chosen to get off at Sausalito and take the ferry back to SF, and I highly recommend this beautiful 30-minute ride after lunch in Sausalito. Overall a good time, but caveat emptor.

Despite my calling three days earlier to confirm my booking, my trip with Extranomical was cancelled the day before as I was apparently the only passenger. Although they arranged for me to go with Tower Tours, I would have liked the option of going on a different day. I spent time researching which company to choose which turned out to be a waste of time. Their staff was barely apologetic and lacked courtesy. Just go with Tower or a different company - at least you know you will get there.
