This tour shouldn't be called an Architectural tour, it was more of a general city tour. Also, we were sitting in the back of the van and the driver couldn't hear our questions. We were also looking at a map we had been given and couldn't follow what was being said about the map. I called the local tour company and complained as well. They would like to rename the tour City Tour. I am glad they added in a part about the Katrina devastation.
Our tour guide, Diane, was very knowledgeable and has a nice sense of humor. This was our first trip to New Orleans and this was a great way to get an overview of the city. There were only 7 of us on this tour so the seating was very comfortable and all sight lines for viewing were unobstructed. We have booked several tours in other cities through Viator and will continue to do so.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. It gave us a full sense of understanding and enjoying New Orleans then and now. A full four hours in a van small enough to go where typical tour buses cannot go, with enough opportunity to stretch and an excellent tour of Longvue. Our guide was friendly and considerate, knowledgeable of history, geography, the economy and the art and culture of this unique city, though with an unfortunate tendency to refer to seminal events as "before Jesus Christ". We saw cemetaries, bayou, traces of Hurricane Katrina, the French Quarter, Lake Pontchartrain, Carrollton, Lafayette, antebellum mansions and many places of note.. How and why the city grew was well explained. We would recommend this tour and felt it delivered value.
