We took this tour in hopes that we would see the Northern Lights. And it did not disappoint!
Our tour guide/driver was Josh. He was very friendly and provided a wonderful experience.
First, we visited the Alaskan pipeline just outside of Fairbanks. Josh gave us a lot of great information about the design of the pipeline and how it was built. We were able to see the pipeline many times on our way to the Arctic Circle.
The Dalton Highway was a bit rough, but Josh maneuvered it quite well. We had several rest stops along the way.
Once we arrived at the Arctic Circle we took many pictures at the sign, and got certificates that we made it.
The way back was all about trying to see the Northern Lights. We stopped at the Yukon River Camp. The skies were clear there. Shortly after the stars came out we could see the glow in the sky. Bucket list item checked!
We stayed there about 2 hours, then headed back toward Fairbanks. About half way back we stopped again to see what the sky offered. Again, we got another awesome light show.
Once we all got back into the van, Josh stayed out for a few minutes. He saw that the lights were firing up again! We got out and viewed and photographed. The lights were green and purple! Just gorgeous. By then, it was late. The trip back to Fairbanks was quiet, and Josh got us all back safely.
One of our best tours ever. Highly recommended!
