Your guide will lead your group out to the springs and explain the most ideal viewing locations, where you can wait for a chance to glimpse the multicolored display in the sky. Round-trip transport from Fairbanks or North Pole hotels, entry to the ice museum and hot springs is included.

Note: the resort does not allow children under 18 in the outside rock pool. However, they may use the indoor pool under adult supervision.

  • The outside rock pool is only allowed for adults 18 years and up. However, children are allowed in the inside pool.
  • Pregnant travelers are not allowed in the outside rock pool.
  • We have enough room for a foldable wheelchair. The hot springs are wheelchair accessible.
  • We can only pick up from inside the city limits of Fairbanks or North Pole. For other locations, you will need to go to an agreed location (eg Walmart), please contact our office to discuss if you are staying outside the city limits.
  • Water is not supplied for this tour. We recommending bringing a refillable water bottle.

Highlight was the geothermal heated rock pool. Our guide Kevin was also great and really tried to find us a good aurora sighting. Unfortunately we only found a weak aurora, off white to the naked eye although green with tripod time lapsed photography. We would not consider this Chena Hot Springs resort and Northern Lights tour a good choice if the primary purpose is aurora viewing. The Aurora Vewing Room at the resort was small, and faced a ridge as well as a rear parking area for vans which kept driving by with bright lights. Turnouts along Chena Hot Springs Rd where the view is not blocked by trees are limited. Chena Hot Springs Resort is great if the primary purpose is a nice hot soak in the pools.

I hate to leave bad review since it was not the guide's fault. It was his first time driving clients to Chena Hot Springs. I believed the tour should run to 2am. But we left early due to the fact that the guide did not have enough experience to know that the Aurora lights might come out around 1am.-2am. It was our first time there, too. So we did not know we should wait until the end of the tour (2am.) We booked with the same company for all our excursions so we got 4 different tour guides, one for each day. I gave 5 stars for Gavin who drove us on the Arctic Circle tour. This one for the Chena Hot Springs, I cannot make myself go above 3 stars. The guide did not encourage us to stay until the end of tour time.

Tim, there has been some confusion, and for that we must apologize. Chena Hot Springs closes to non-overnight guests at midnight, so we are unable to stay at the resort past that time. As we would be charged an overnight fee for every guest on the tour, our guides are not allowed to stay there later than 12:00am. There are numerous safe pullouts on the roughly 90-minute drive back to Fairbanks that the guide may use if the Aurora presents itself in the sky. From your description, despite our guide being new, he did not do anything wrong on this tour, but we do apologize for the confusion. Additionally, we would like to point out that we must include driving time in our tour schedules, and that is why the tour is listed as going from 4:00pm to 2:00am. As Chena Hot Springs is 90-120 minutes from Fairbanks, and we must pickup and drop off over a dozen passengers from their hotels, this time must be factored into our schedule.

Swimming in the hot springs was relaxing and beautiful! Kevin was a nice tour guide. He helped us know what to do and was funny.
