PLEASE NOTE that visibility of the northern lights (aurora) is not guaranteed. It is a natural phenomenon we have no control over and no refunds will be given if the aurora cannot be seen.

The road to Murphy Dome is steep and if it is not plowed or is too icy and dangerous we will take customers to an alternative location that provides the same opportunity to see the aurora.

A great tour. Our Guide Joe picked us up on time and gave us a great talk about the Lights. Murphy’s Dome was a great viewing spot. Fantastic light show!

It’s never guaranteed because it’s Mother Nature, but on the night I visited the lights came out to play. It was fantastic, our guide Joe was really knowledgeable and helpful, even with camera settings. Do it you won’t regret it.

We pre-arranged this tour before going, keeping watch on predictions of Fairbanks weather and spaceweather.com and chose between two days, the Wednesday we would be there. As it turned out, Wednesday was the only days without clouds or rain in Fairbanks, and we Dave picked up exactly on time (10:30pm). We and another couple made the 45 minute drive to Murphy Dome and the lights were just starting as we arrived. It was cold, but we had rented gear and could get back into the heated van if we needed to. We spent 2 hours taking pictures until the clouds moved back in. All of it--the guide, the van, the views of the northern lights made this bucket list item a success!
