We did the ocean raft excursion with our 12 and 10 year olds. Everyone loved it!!! We saw beautiful waterfalls, harbor seals, bald eagles and otters. Jen was our tour guide and she was exceptional. She explained everything and was very patient with our kids. I'm a bit of a chicken and even I enjoyed it. It was definitely money well spent!!!

Our family of 5 had done some whale watching and was looking for another way to be on the water - with more speed, excitement and maybe a different perspective. The Ocean Raft Adventure fit the bill. Suited up in what looked like Apollo space suits (to keep us warm and buoyant), we were ushered into a small raft with motorcycle-like seating and one bench in back. This was an adventure for the speed lovers among us, as we zipped along the shore - getting THIS close to those rocky outcroppings, hidden waterfalls and other beautiful areas that we missed on our whale watching adventures. We saw our share of wildlife, and were kept abreast of our surroundings by the crew who took care that we were comfortable and warm. It was definitely different, and gave us an exciting and beautiful look at Skagway, which has one of the most beautiful harbors we were to see on our cruise. This is not a trip for anyone who gets motion-sick, is timid, or who has mobility/balance issues. But if you want some fun and can handle speed, bouncing and hairpin turns in the middle of a cold Alaskan harbor, go for it!

We rode aboard the Ocean Raft this morning. We were met at the pier by Tessa who explained everything to us, very sweet girl. Especially since I was very nervous. After riding over to the gear station and meeting Captain Ashley and our Naturalist Alyssa we were ready to start our adventure. They provide you with orange jumpsuits that are a floatation device, gloves, hats, and googles. This boat is fast. I'm not usually adventurous or thrill seeking but I was still able to do this and mostly enjoy it. They stop lots to show you wildlife and beautiful waterfalls. My kids really loved this boat ride and would do it again and again. Well worth the money. Alyssa will even take family pics for you at the waterfalls. If you are scared Capt Ashley will ease your fears. My only suggestion, wear athletic shoes and comfy clothes. Great family fun!
