We did this excursion while cruising the Inland Passage with our family of 22 June 17-24 2016. Our group of 7, for this ride, ranged in age 23-64. We were picked up at our dock by our friendly driver, Tessa, and driven to the staging area for Ocean Raft Alaska. There we were briefed on what to expect and what to bring, given our thermal / flotation suits and ,after suiting up, were on our way to the boat. Because our group was small, we used their smaller Zodiac vessel and it was perfect for our adventure.
Our driver was Christian and our naturalist was Alyssa!! We were briefed on safety issues and where we were headed and what we would be seeing and experiencing.
We were offered goggles, gloves, and ski masks for wind and spray protection. It was a cold day out on the water, however, we were all perfectly comfortable in our suits. We were glad we listened to Christian and did not wear more than t-shirts underneath! Truly, no jackets, sweatshirts or vests needed and may get too warm!!
Christian immediately showed us what the Zodiac can do and Alyssa kept us informed and aware of surrounding wildlife, waterfalls, history and interesting facts and information of the area. The ride is fun and fast. It can get jerky and bumpy, however the padded saddle type seating feels secure and comfortable. Mandatory stop and stretch segments are scheduled in the tour, so never felt cramped or uncomfortable. We also became quite aware of the bald eagles and harbor seals along the shore and would point them out when sighted and Christian would stop or slow down to view. We made frequent stops for wildlife and photo ops and could not have enjoyed this ride/tour more. Highly recommended by all 7 of us!! Thanks Ocean Raft Alaska for a great time!!
