Custom tour designed for you and where your interests are. We are not on a schedule and can even adapt as we go depending upon what we find on your special day.

I am a local historian and naturalist who has lived in the area for over 50 years. I consider myself an interpreter of nature adding color to the already stunning beauty you'll see. We'll concentrate on the myriad wildlife, the diverse biology, and incredible geology of the Rockies. We'll also get insight into what it might have been like for early pioneers and lodge keepers as well as indigenous people like the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Ute.

My tours are completely flexible so if you want to hike for 3 or 4 miles, great! Or if you just want sit back and relax and enjoy the view that's fine too! Either way we'll stop often to photograph and talk about the amazing sights.

Best Three-Hour Morning Custom Personalized Private Tour: This tour begins with you and your party of up to 4 people being picked up at your lodging in Estes Park or at the Estes Park Visitor Center on 500 Big Thompson Ave. If you like we’ll make a few short stops to view historical sites and look for wildlife in the Estes Valley before heading into Rocky Mountain National Park. In winter our destination is Bear Lake for breathtaking snowy scenery or maybe a short snowshoe walk in the forest! In summer our destination is Trail Ridge Road the highest continuous road in the US. Both tours include plenty of stops for wildlife viewing, photography and a short hike as you and the time allow.

Hiking? No. It is a car trip with history of area, if you want hiking, make that clear the minute you get in the car. I thought I made that clear but nope...after over a hour of driving I brought it up. The previous conversation we had to hike near a stream, go to a waterfall or lake had been completely forgotten. Guide was very nice and knowledgeable but not what I wanted or what I asked for. Just be very firm on what you want.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic Rocky Mountain National Park was closed for about 2 months. This greatly limited the scope of my tours and severely limited my ability to operate. It made it harder and take longer to access other nearby areas to explore. Though we did hike for over half of the 3 hour tour and partially along the wild and pristine St Vrain River where you stopped hiking for a while to have your snacks in the forest. And after I showed you the incredible and historic St Catherine of Sienna Chapel in the woods you exclaimed that it was on your list of things to see! Well I gave you a refund anyway. And while I definitely do not offer lake or waterfall hikes outside the National Park, I do offer hikes and snowshoeing tours to these spots inside Rocky. Thank you for making me a better tour

Bruce was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about the historical context of the area and also about all of the wildlife that lives or migrates through the area. Bruce is very fun and flexible with time and will tailor your experience to whatever you like. I am a historian so it was fun hearing the storied of the settlers and the Native Americans. Bruce can make the trip as much or as little about local history as you would like. From visiting with Bruce, it is apparent that he has a deep passion and love for this area. That passion comes across in his tours. He also some great tips on hiking with all the snow around this time of year. Thanks, Bruce! See you next time!
