Escape from the crowded tourist areas for a private, 90-minute surf lesson for a group of 3-to-5 people near Lahaina, Maui. Choose from an early-, mid-, or late-morning time frame. This surf session will focus on water safety, proper surf technique, surfing style, and etiquette. The experienced, professional instructor guarantees students will stand up, catch a wave, and leave the beach as a certified surfer. All lessons are private so they will never combine guests from separate parties. All the necessary equipment — rash guard, state-of-the-art soft-top board, and reef shoes — included.

Kody is a fantastic instructor! He called us an hour prior to our lesson to change locations to a beach where the waves were perfect for our group. No one in our family of 4 had ever surfed before, and we were all able to make it up on our first or second try! Kody was easy to talk to, had great feedback and advise, and we all agreed that surf lessons were the best part of our trip. We loved that we spent most of our time surfing, and only a few minutes on shore at the start of our lesson. We highly recommend lessons with and Kody, and we can't wait to surf with him again!

I've now surfed with Kiva twice, once by myself and once with my family. Kiva is a fantastic instructor, helping people who have never surfed before get on waves 15 minutes into their first lesson. He always has great feedback, but also teaches you by letting you catch waves so that everyone has fun. He's also a great guy, so it's great to chat with him. The second time we went, the swell wasn't great, but he still managed to find waves for us to catch and taught us a lot. Highly recommend for anyone looking to learn how to surf!
