This was a nice tour, with a lot of windy roads and lots of stops to buy delicious food and see breathtaking sites.
Our tour started off with being picked up by our tour guide David at our hotel. He was nice, friendly, funny, and expected people to participate in answering questions. He was knowledgeable about the sites and culture as well. David’s communication is great, as he called us the night before the trip to give us information, as well as morning of to let us know he was on his way but running a little late. The sites we were taken too were very nice, and I was able to purchase some banana bread and other delicious snacks. We stopped at Safeway to get breakfast to eat on the bus, and when we stopped at Waiʻānapanapa State Park we were given lunch. On our way back to Paia, we had the opportunity to purchase an afternoon snack, and then right before being dropped off David was nice enough to stop at Leoda’s for a few minutes to get pies, since we had done well with our time management through out the day.
Some issues we had on our trip included not being informed we were only going as far as Waiʻānapanapa State Park and then turning around, instead of all the way around the island. I understand there is nothing the company can do about the road closure, but it would have been nice to have been informed about this beforehand since the road has been out for a few weeks.
Also for breakfast, we had selected a sliced muffin, but were only provided with sliced bread. Not exactly a filling breakfast, although the snacks throughout the day definitely held us over until lunch.
