We had an awesome time on the wine & woods tour! Our guide and drive was Randall and he had a vast knowledge about not only the areas where he took us but also about the growing, harvesting and production of wine. What a treat he was!
We were picked up at 7:45 a.m. we’re driven through town and over the Golden Gate Bridge to our first stop at Muir Woods. What a beautiful place! We could have spent a whole day there but we only had an hour to explore. Randall’s trail suggestion worked out perfectly for the time we had available.
Next stop was Cline Cellars in Sonoma. We really enjoyed the wines there and the people running the place were delightful and very knowledgable.
Next was an hour and a half for lunch and exploration in the Sonoma square. We opted to not get the optional lunch so we had to find something on our own. We ate at the Sunflower Cafe on Randall’s suggestion (so good!) and explored the historic buildings and shops in the area until our next tasting which took place at Lake Sonoma tasting room on the square.
The tasting room for Lake Sonoma was small, so it felt a bit cramped with our 32 person group in there, but the wines were wonderful and their host was also very friendly and knowledgeable.
Next was a short drive to Napa and the Kieu Hoang winery. There we actually got to explore the vineyards and their wines were very tasty! We actually did a paid tasting here as well and ordered some wines to be delivered to our home.
One last stop on the way back at Randall’s favorite Golden Gate Bridge overlook was a nice addition. We arrived back at the drop off point near Union Square at 6:00 pm.
