Ride with the some of the premier Alaska Racing Huskies, an educational Q & A presentation on Mushing by our resident mushing experts, and a visit to the FREE Puppy Camp. Feel the excitement of riding with an experienced dog sled musher over cut trails through the Yukon wilderness!

This 6 hour tour that departs from Yukon Heath's Popcorn Emporium at 9a.m. This tour features stops at Capt Moore's Bridge and Tutshi. Next visit Caribou Crossing Iditarod Training Camp for approx 1 hour. This gives you time for lunch, the wildlife museum, petting farm and PUPPIES! The tour will also take you to Emerald Lake, The Yukon sign, the Welcome to Alaska sign, and there is a possibility of wildlife spotting including bears, sheep, caribou, elk, lynx, fox, eagles, and moose. Transportation is provided in a 24 passenger air porter bus and you are accompanied by a driver/guide.

A valid passport is REQUIRED on the day of travel
Please arrive at least 30 minutes your tour is set to departure

U.S and Canadian Citizens: Must bring a government issued photo ID and proof of citizenship (U.S birth certificate or naturalization certificate) or a passport for re-entry to the United States. Children, ages 18 and under only require a birth certificate.

We really wanted to see the sled dogs at their summer camp. We did do that, but we later heard of others who had done a similar tour 0- to the exact same places - for nearly half of the cost. We were able to see lots of sled dogs later, but I guess that we didn't know that at the time

This was probably the least favorite of our excursions on our Alaska Cruise not because it was bad but because it was so slow moving. We had plenty of time to explore Skagway before our tour left. There were about 10 of us that headed out to the mushers camp in the Yukon. The driver was new to Skagway, having spent the summer in Juneau before being traded to Skagway. He did a great job of covering the history and highlights of Skagway before taking us out on the Yukon Highway. The drive out to the mushers camp was pleasant but unmemorable. The excursion included lunch at the mushers camp, nothing to write home about. The mushers camp was interesting with the highlight being a ride on wheeled sled pulled by a team of sled dogs that are training for the Yukon Quest Dog Sled Race. This was followed by an informative talk by the musher about dog sled racing. We returned back to Skagway better informed about dog sled racing.

The Yukon Discovery and Dog Sled tour was recommended to us by a friend who last year to Alaska. We thought it would be different and something new so we booked it before we got on our cruise! It was so amazing having Bryan as our tour guide! He was so informative, shared many personal experiences as we drove to the Yukon and really knew the Skagway area as well. He was kind, friendly, professional and he knew all the best pictures spots along the way. I highly recommend the tour and if you can request a guide, request, Bryan! He was incredible and made our day excursion that much better!
