Experience the Sonoma wine region in a unique way – on a San Francisco-style trolley, for an open-air ride through rustic, sun-kissed Sonoma Valley. Stop at 3 different wineries to sip and swirl fine Northern California varietals. This open-air trolley will let you experience the picturesque vineyards like no other tour. On this tour, your friendly and knowledgeable guide will take you to three wineries for tastings. You will visit Sonoma's top historic landmarks and enjoy lunch during one of the scenic stops. The tour starts at 10:00 and and ends around 4:30.

Your day in California wine country starts as you hop aboard the Sonoma Wine Trolley, modeled after the famous historical cable cars of San Francisco. Enjoy the breeze as your knowledgeable tour guide whisks you off to four outstanding Sonoma-area wineries, known for both their wines and their hospitality. Each wine tasting takes place at the winery and a representatives at each winery will explain the different varietals you’ll sample and the background of the wineries (wine tasting fees are not included and you can expect fees of $30 to $40). There will be wonderful photo opportunities on this tour and your friendly guide will be happy to take a photo or two of your group so you can document your memorable day in wine country.

We paid $99 a person and were aware that the winery tour visits would entail a charge but based on our experience in visiting wineries on our own north of Sonoma, the wine tasting fees were reasonable and if a couple wanted to share the tasting, it was allowed. The first winery did not have a charge but the second involved a tour of the winery at $30 per person which would have added $60 to our cost. It was a beautiful setting and there was a lot to see so we and three others on the tour just looked around, \while the others took the tour of the grounds.At this stop the lunch from the Girl and the Fig was served in an unlit structure. There were no chairs or tables so we stood around barrels as the bees were incessant outside. The third stop was a small winery which charged $30 per person (no sharing allowed for a couple) and included chocolate with the tasting. Only two couples elected to participate and the five of us who didn't were relegated to the outside area where there was thankfully, a table with water and an overhead cover. We felt and were treated like second class citizens. By then the rest of us were not up to stopping at the last winery and the driver was kind enough to take us back to Sonoma while one couple visited the last winery.

Thank you for the review. I am sorry about the bees, Benzinger is a biodynamic venue so there is little they can do to fend of the bees since no pesticide can be used. I will reach out to your privately to discuss the lunch.

I was expecting this to be a little bit more fun but it felt very much like an informational tour of the Sonoma area/wineries. The whole tour was about 7 hours and we visited four wineries, between the time spent at each and travel time, we were more tired than buzzed. Also, even though it suggests that the wine tastings are optional, they are 'highly recommended', meaning, if you want to skip it there is either no alternative or you will have to sit outside and wait. So, bring an additional $100 for tasting fees.The HIGHLIGHT of the trip was the tasting with chocolate pairing. The host at that winery was so engaging and knowledgeable and the experience was unique!

Thank you for your review. The tour we offer, depending on where you are located and traffic starts at 10:30 and end around 4:30. If you are the first stop you are picked up earlier and therefore get the bonus of being on the trolley longer. While the Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley is primarily a wine tour, many people choose to just ride along and not taste wine. They just want to enjoy riding on the trolley. Many of our partner wineries allow you to share the tasting or skip them altogether. If you choose to skip them, which includes the tour you have the choice to sit an enjoy the sights and sounds of the wonderful winery, shop though the tasting room, or just relax and re-hydrate. However if you go on the tour then you would have to pay the winery fee. Every winery works in the same fashion and the costs vary. Many of our guests who are not wine drinkers give a call or let us know this in advance so that we can inform the tasting rooms that we have a few non drinkers. Thank you for the feedback.

First time in sonoma and after reading realized it is a nice way to get introduced to wine tasting. Paul was great. Take you to 4 wineries which is listed. I tried calling the previous day for the scheduled wineries, and weren't the ones we visited.i definitely recommend to get you started with Sonoma.

Thank you for the review. Sometimes our stops have to vary due to wineries having private events, wedding, or even club events. When that happens we have to make alternative stops. Sorry it came as a surprise but glad you enjoyed as well.
