My wife and I travelled to St Augustine with our 8 year old son and wanted to do a ghost tour. We found “A Ghostly Encounter” as recommended on Trip Advisor and booked a reservation. It was a beautiful night with great weather, and we were excited to learn about the city’s haunted history from our guide, Matt. Matt started by giving us a story of his past in which we learned he has been legally dead before...TWICE! And as a native son of St Augustine, he knows and loves his haunted history, and he shares it in an amazingly entertaining way. From the fort to local cemeteries, you cover much of the haunted history of St Augustine. Along the walking tour, our son managed to drop his cell phone as he was trying to film part of the tour into a gated cemetery that was off limits to the public. It kind of wrecked his night, but at the end of the tour, Matt gave us his contact info, so he could try to have someone get it in the morning. I decided to walk back over to the cemetery as it was a block from our inn, and I saw the phone was gone. I texted Matt about it, and even though the tour was over and he was heading out, he came over to the cemetery and shined a flashlight. We found my son’s phone closer to the wall as someone else has tried to retrieve it. Matt remembered he had a grabber in his car and brought it to us. We were able to retrieve my son’s phone which turned his night around. The tour was great, but the service afterwards from Matt was exemplary. Highly recommend the tour and can’t recommend Matt enough. Hi Elizabeth...bye Elizabeth.

I am glad to hear that your evening was not overshadowed by the cell phone drop and ended on a high note! You got to witness Matt “The Undertaker” at his best! He is a marvelous guide and as you witnessed shares personal stories as part of the collection of ghostly history he highlights. Samantha was our guide. She was great. All day today as we came back we said hello to Elizabeth at the gates and to James at the cemetery. A really great tour.

Jan is the best! She has such a lively personality and an enigmatic way of storytelling. It was pouring rain and she offered to continue the tour. Our group voted to discontinue the tour halfway through due to the weather, but Jan was great, ensuring that was OK with everyone, and offering to continue for anyone who wanted to move on with the tour, despite being soaked from the rain. I highly recommend this tour. There is not a lot of walking in-between each location and the stories are really creepy!
