The Official Art Deco Gift Shop

Founded in 1976, The Miami Design Preservation League has proudly offered guided walking tours of The Art Deco District for over 40 years. All Proceeds go towards supporting preservation. Visitors are introduced to the history, architecture, and preservation efforts of Miami Beach. Tour ticket includes free admission to the Art Deco Museum and Gift Shop. There are a limited amount of tickets available for each tour, so early bookings are encouraged . Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tour departure for check-in.

90 minute walking tour of core historical South Beach. Official tour run by the Preservation Society. Nice mix of Miami Beach history with a focus on the architectural styles. Great background on the reasons behind the different styles and how they evolved. Reviewed exteriors and key hotel lobbies. Our tour guide, Martin Jean, was smooth and knowledgeable. Kept the attention of the teenagers.

We came for the Art Deco. Thanks to Martin Jean I now know I prefer Streamlined to Rectalinear and can tell an original MiMo from a 21st C copy. Saw where Versace was shot and where Marilyn Monroe stayed. Saw the Hotel where they shot Birdcage and know why Versace chose the colours he did for Don Johnson's wardrobe in Miami Vice. Great tour. This is a great walking tour to give you an overview of the art deco district. Our tour guide not only introduced the architecture features, but gave a history of the changes in South Beach over the years. We spent about 20 mins the museum at the center before the tour started. It is worthwhile to visit to give you some information about what you will see. Take this tour by the Miami Design Preservation League at Ocean Drive & 10th street. $20 for seniors. Don't confuse it with Art Deco Walking Tour by artdecotours.com which costs $30.
