There was a renegade Indian named “Queho”who was reportedly Nevada’s first serial killer near the area whose last killing was near the Techatticup Mine in 1919. Nelson was rebuilt after 50 years of inactivity with many buildings being restored to resemble the old mining town. Nelson was also used for two motion pictures, both starring Kurt Russell, Breakdown (1997) & 3000 miles to Graceland (2001). Since then, Nelson has been a destination for wedding photography, photo shoots, and a historical stop on the way to the Colorado River.
