Highly educational and enjoyable afternoon. We were met at a parking area by an abandoned gas station by our guide who put us in her vehicle to take us to the unmarked (due to security concerns) sanctuary. We had a thorough orientation to the extensive facility, wolves in general, their wolves in particular, the issues with wolves (protection) in various states, etc. There were helpful learning aides (a clump of wolf fur, imprints of tracks, etc.). Well presented with lots of opportunity for questions. We then took a tour of the outdoor facility and met the wolves, each of whom had a very distinct personality. It was a memorable opportunity to be so close to wolves and learn of the good work this group is doing. I highly recommend a visit.
Important notes: You MUST make reservations ahead of time. There is no chance to ‘drop in’ and check it out. Time is outdoors (the talk was while we were seated, and they had blankets for us) and uneven and sometimes steep grade (although we had one person on the tour in a wheelchair who was able to complete the tour with help from her family).
