I booked the river, rails and trails package with this company after reading all the positive reviews on TripAdvisor. Our first part of the trip was the Jeep tour. We got on a bus in Durango by the McDonald's and it took us to Silverton. Marty was our guide and he was FANTASTIC!!! So kind, very knowledgeable and patient with our family of 6. The Jeep tour was incredible! We got to see so much beautiful scenery and Marty told us about the history of the town. It was really great!! He also took us to an old town that had been abandoned many years ago. Really neat to see that!! FYI: The "Jeep" is a converted truck with benches in it that are completely open. Don't forget your hats and sunscreen. It was pretty chilly that day so be sure to bring sweatshirts and blankets. We forgot our blankets but Marty had plenty of blankets for us. After the Jeep tour, Marty brought us back to Silverton for lunch. We ate on our own and then boarded the train. So neat!!! It's a real steam engine!!! We opted for the open air gondola car, and we're glad we did. It was chilly, but we got to see some beautiful scenery!! Be sure to wear sunglasses or something to protect your eyes in the open gondola. Coal cinders can blow back and get in your eyes, so be careful of that. The next day we did the 1/2 day lower Animas river rafting tour. SUPER fun!!! Levi was our guide and he was GREAT!!!! The water was very chilly:45-55 degrees. We all rented wetsuits from the company and are SO GLAD we did that. You go through class 1-2 rapids, with 1-2 class 3 rapids that are really fun!! Listen to your guide for paddling instructions!! Levi was awesome with inexperienced rafters like us! HIGHLY recommend Levi!!! Rafting time was a total of around 3 hours. Levi pointed out different aspects of the river and explained the history of it and Durango. So fun!!! Would HIGHLY recommend Mild to Wild!!!! Don't forget to ask for Marty as your Jeep guide and Levi as your River guide!! Both of those guys ROCK!!

Our family of 4 went on our first rafting trip, and it was so much fun. We chose the economy 2 hour trip since we did not know what to expect. We now want to try the longer trips, maybe even kayaking. Our guide was Benji, and he did a terrific job making our experience one to remember. We experienced class III rapids, surfing, great history of the area, jumping into the river, water gun fights with the other rafters, and a lot of laughs and memories made. Benji was awesome, and went out of his way to keep us entertained. All the staff at Mild to Wild went out of there way to show us a great time. We will definitely come back to Mild to Wild on our next visit to Durango. It was an experience well worth every penny. Thank you!

I have to admit, I was searching around town for the least expensive rafting adventure I could find for my family. Mild to Wild was the last company we checked out. If it weren't for the lady at the counter (her name started with a 'B') giving us a thorough explanation of what to expect from each trip, we probably would have gone with a company that offered free rides for kids 8 and under. However, safety is Mild to Wild's number one priority, so we felt comfortable going with them. Their guides have the most hours on the river, and they are very knowledgeable of the rapids of the water. We had Berr as our guide, and he did a phenomenal job! He's so chill, and his sense of humor is awesome. We were laughing all the way down the river! Berr wasn't afraid to try some "tricks" on the class III rapids, so we got to "catch" the waves more than once! We stopped twice along the river for some rest and cooling off. Our kids got to jump into the river from a small rock, enhancing their experience. We will definitely return to Mild to Wild for our next Durango adventure! Thank you!!
