What To Expect
1
George Parks Highway
The ground tour will be south from Fairbanks on the George Parks Highway.
2
Nenana
The tour will visit the rural community of Nenana situated on the south bank of the Tanana River - Nenana serves as a regional transportation hub with river, rail, highway and air access. The strong threads of Tanana Athabascan culture and subsistence lifestyle running through the community lend Nenana the special feel of a "bush" village located on the road system.
3
Healy
Pass through Healy - nestled on the northern edge of the Alaska Range, Healy serves as the gateway community for Denali National park.
4
Denali National Park and Preserve
Arrive at Denali National Park -- the Murie Science and Learning Center provides the perfect base camp for exploring Alaska's best known national park (access is limited currently during covid - but is used as a resting point with what we can access). Enjoy the quiet beauty and solitude of a winter landscape blanketed in snow. Learn h ow plants, animals, and humans adopt creative strategies to survive the extreme winter cold of Alaska's Interior. Enjoy a short nature walk or snowshoe to see up close the beauty of the park on a short nature trail. This is a soft tour experience not an adventurous hike.

From arrival at the Northern AlaskaTour Company office, through the drop off that evening at the inn, the entire winter drive to Denali National Park experience was wonderful. Being surrounded by the beauty of Alaska in winter, the stop at Nenana, AK., and snowshoeing in the park, the entire trip was so worth it. Dan was very knowledgeable and shared his information on all things Alaska. And the weather was beautiful that day which made the trip even more special. I would heartily recommend this trip to anyone wanting to experience the Alaskan winter, the beautiful countryside and majestic mountains. Thanks again for a great trip!

Don was very, very knowledgeable. He made the drive from Fairbanks to Denali fun, at every turn Don had tidbits of information. Also, a great surprise when we had the oppurtinity to snowshoe on the trails of Denali! We also booked the Alaska Train ride back to Fairbanks, it was very fun but I wondered what other information we missed not riding back with Don. We even had the chance to view Denali from afar since it was a very clear day. I highly encourage anyone to book a trip with Northern Alaska Tour Company and if you lucky ---- you'll get Don.
