What To Expect

Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park

Mitten View, Mitchell Mesa, Merrick Butte, Elephant/Camel Buttes, John Fords Point, Three Sisters, and Rain God. Backcountry: Chiefs Head, Big Hogan, Totem Pole View, Suns Eye, Ear of the Wind, and hogan demonstration.

I would highly recommend taking this tour to complement your own scenic drive lthrough the park. You will get information, see areas, and hear stories not accessible in the scenic drive. Our guide Steven was able to answer every question about the valley and its people because he was raised there and has a long family history at the site.

My husband and I made the trek from TN to Monument Valley and decided that we should take a tour to learn more about the area! The day before the tour, we received clear instructions on where to meet and what time to meet, and were greeted by our guide, Steven! Steven was very nice, knowledgeable and gave us a fantastic overview of the valley, some insight into Navajo culture, and even got to entertain us with his flute skills! One of the highlights of our vacation!

When planning our 10-day vacation, I wasn't so sure I wanted to go out of the way to Monument Valley. Boy am I glad we did. Our guide Joseph taught us so much about the area, the geology, and the Navajo culture in a very gentle, soulful, and proud way. He made the area come alive. One of the best pictures we have of the entire vacation is one he took of our daughter. Because the roads are unpaved, a lot of red dirt gets kicked up as you travel so I recommend a scarf for your nose and eyes. But I still highly recommend this tour.
