We requested a tour in a/c SUV and ended up having a guide all to ourselves. His name was Clyde and he gave us a wonderful personal tour. We were able to stop at all the places of interest for as long as we wished and he gave us great background of the Navajo people and their traditions as well as the history of the valley. It was a wonderful 2.5 hr tour and a great memory for us.

This tour hit all the major sites in monument valley plus a couple only available to Navajo guided tours. Our guide, Derrick, was low keyed but informative and even played a Navajo flute at one of the stops that made me wish we could stay there all day and enjoy the feeling of reverence and respect for this area. The road is very rough and you should be prepared for a very bouncy ride between sites. Derrick did a good job of making the ride as smooth as possible but no amount of effort could provide a smooth ride. My only complaint is not with the tour itself but with some confusion I had with the booking of the tour on line. According to the booking site the tour would pick you up at select hotels and you are asked to provide your hotel info. I didn't get any notice that our hotel was not select. Fortunately I read the fine print on my tour confirmation that we would start the tour from the hotel at the entrance to Monument Valley. We were1/2 hour drive from that location when I discovered this and our tour was to start in 35 minutes. Fortunately we made it. The tour is 2.5 hours and there are no bathroom facilities out there so plan accordingly. Water was provided near the end of the tour.

Our guided tour of Monument Valley was perhaps the best guided tour we have ever experienced! Our guide, Vera, met us in the hotel lobby at the scheduled time. She introduced herself asked about us and our travels and presented an brief overview of the tour. It was not a canned presentation. Being born in the immediate area Vera knew of what she spoke. She was extremely knowledgeable and gave us information and showed us things that we would never have learned on another tour. The tour was educational, informative and FUN! If you are contemplating a visiting Monument Valley, we highly recommend a Viator/Dineh Bekeyah Tour. Ask for Vera!
